Sam Kidd's thoughts on business

As you will know from other posts on this site I love advertising that's really stands out above the rest.  This site is another example of someone thinking outside the box to get their message across.  Any advert that you want to watch and want to tell people about is a winner in my books.  This advert comes from a company I didn't think I would be writting about here, Burger king.

The idea for the video is of course simple like any great idea. What would happen if you took a Burger King restaurant in America, and then you decided, hey lets take the Whopper off the menu and told everyone that comes in that the Whopper has been discontinued for ever. Well the video will answer those questions.

I posted a blog about this cool idea of Guinness's, which was to hunt online for their new advert to win some sort of a prize. Well that idea sounded great but I was reading a favourite blog on mine, adfreak  and he had the link to the ad on YouTube.

Well I'm to lazy to search the net for it, and for the others of you who are also to lazy to search for this 'great' new Guinness ad, here it is.








Guinness has said that no special effects were used in this ad, and that it cost a reported £10 million to make.  Honda’s ad does come to mind when you watch this.

 

Guinness have just started a new ad campaign online. This ad campaign comes with a twist. You have to search for the ads in this one.  Guinness has hid an ad somewhere online, and to win the prize you must track it down.  The first clue is this video on YouTube .

I'm all for different ways of advertising, and I have to say I'm liking this idea. I had an idea for a hunt round Cork for AREA51. I was going to hide different signs for people to work out before we opened, but I never took it futher than just an idea.

I have watched the video and Googled a few ideas but no luck so far. I have also attached a sheet with what is said in the video. Let me know if anyone has any luck.

Being awhile since I posted anything on here. I had a problem with the site when posting in December for some strange reason.

Anyhow I was on Digg last night when I came across a post for this movie site. I then spent the rest of the night then watching SAW. A film I heard about but never really wanted to see but thought I would give it 10mins and man what a great film. It's just a bloody good thriller, really got me thinking and I just really enjoyed it. So I watched SAW 2 today. Also good. Some of the films are shite quality and some don't stream fast but hey it's free so you can't be too picky.

(note to Emma, I have now fixed the title) Smart ass!

Just came across these guys on YouTube and sadly it makes me want to buy one. If you do a search of them they blend 50 marbles in another video which is very impressive as well. (how sad am I) Still it's impressive to see companies using new media like YouTube to sell new products. I'm getting a new DVD cam as a christmas present from one of our supplies so might start uploading loads of my own videos soon. So watch this space.

Just sat down for 2 seconds to look at  a video on YouTube and 2 hours later still watching stuff. Always happens!! I just came across this video of a comedian and just had to put it up here it's fecking savage.

Having worked in video production for sometime I saw this video on MTV the other day and thought it was such a simple idea but bloody clever. I then saw them perform it live on the MTV awards show it was fecking fantastic. Check out the video (I love the part where they look like they skiing) The band is Ok Go and the song is 'Here it goes again'
